    • Erasmus + Program: "European People's University for Wildlife"

      For who ?

For everyone ! For the sympathizer who wishes to inform and alert people around him or on social networks, for the activist ready to engage in the field, for the volunteer or the employee of a European NGO working on conservation projects of great predators, for lovers of large mammals, for the curious of nature ... and for you!

      Our objective ?

Offer training on the various aspects inherent in the presence of large carnivores on our territories.

We hope to help improve the quality of their actions and strengthen international cooperation between associations active in the field.

      How ?

      Through a Mooc "Large carnivores"
      and a field training !

A Mooc (for "Massive Online Open Course") is a type of online training, with videos, text content and allowing the learner to work and validate their skills independently with games, quizzes and exercises. This Mooc will be open to all, free and available in 4 languages (Fr, En, Germ, Sp) !

But also through a field training that will be offered by the Ngos of the project and during which the participants will be able to put into practice their knowledge and skills acquired in the MOOC.

    • We are currently in the second stage of the project, namely writing courses for the Mooc. In parallel, we are starting to set up this platform.

    • 1st step: creation of a volunteer skills referential

We have identified the different profiles of volunteers from European associations for the protection of large predators, the situations in the field encountered by these volunteers and the necessary skills (scientific and cross-functional) to respond to these situations: all of this is summarized in our skills reference guide.

    • 2nd stage: creation of a training course

Writing of the various training modules responding to the skills identified:

      • in the field of science and techniques specific to the protection of large carnivores (biology, ethology, knowledge of the environment, etc.);
      • in the areas of social skills and essential knowledge in a complex multi-stakeholder context (knowledge of the world of animal husbandry and hunting, non-violent communication and conflict management, skills in mediation and awareness raising ...) .
During this stage, we call on the contribution of many experts from different fields and the contents will be validated by a scientific committee.

    • 3rd step: creation of the MOOC "Large Carnivores"

      What is a MOOC?
A Mooc (for "Massive Online Open Course") is a type of online training, bringing together videos, text content and allowing the learner to work and validate their skills independently. with games, quizzes and exercises.

This Mooc "Large carnivores" will be available in 4 languages (Fr, En, Germ, Sp), open to all and free!

    • Step 4 : creating a Field Training

Students of this Mooc will be able to complete their theoretical training by "a field and situational training"  organized by the associations at the origin of the project.

This field training will be composed of several workshops: discovery of pastoralism and means of protection, conflict management, discovery of traces and clues, vigilance against poaching, etc.

A first edition will take place in spring 2022, during one week, with the participation of some thirty European volunteers selected. We will then test the content of the workshops and their complementarity with the theory taught in the MOOC. We will also use the opportunity to create video content to illustrate the courses with concrete examples. With this first experience, we will be able to improve and evolve the content of our training.

Subsequently, the associations Ferus, Natagora, Fapas and FFW wish to propose regularly field training modelled on this model, in order to continue to train their supporters and activists and improve their actions on the field.
    • It is a European aid program for education, training, youth and sport which encourages international partnerships and innovative practices.

Our project, submitted in spring 2018, finished in 2nd place on the European charts!
